Artist Notes:

Standing Tall has a special place in my heart. 

I have enjoyed four generations of friendship with Erik’s family. We have been through so many of life’s ups and downs together, but the loss of Erik has been devastating beyond description.  

That Erik’s grandmother has funneled her grief into creating Standing Tall  to support those facing mental health issues and despair is a testament to hope, joy and moving forward. 

My painting, “Journey” touches on the arduous path that so many tread seeking solace. $100.00 of the purchase price of “Journey” goes to support the vital work of Standing Tall. 

Marcia Spees paints in her garden studio on the island in the Pacific Northwest where Erik’s mom grew up. A classically trained watercolorist, known for her light-filled, colorful compositions, Marcia has recently plunged into oils, acrylics and cold wax, ever expanding her repertoire and evolving with fresh challenges.  You can check out more of her work at her website: www.speesart.com.
